Losing Belly Weight

People turn to nutritional regimes mainly to eliminate the belly fat. Usually you don’t need much thought as to how to put belly weight on, but extra effort is required to get rid of it, as it can be stubborn! So, here are a few things you can consider to blast away that belly fat.

Let’s start with the beginning. To ensure that you are not wasting your time with any of the strategies below, it’s important to check to see that you don’t have a medical condition that can make your efforts to lose weight almost impossible. The said condition, known as ‘hypothyroidism’, refers to the body’s inability to create appropriate quantities of thyroid hormone.

This triggers a decrease in metabolism, which ultimately leads to fat accumulation. Since just a shift to healthy food and physical activity is not enough to help you if you have this condition, it is better to have a doctor test you for this.

So, once you have got the all clear, the next thing to look at is your food. Obviously, continuing on your current food pattern will have you put on even more, so you will need to minimize the amount of fats in it, because it probably is a leading cause for your problem. Try to develop a meal plan so that you actually have to stop and think about what it is you are eating. This is a resolution you will be aware of and its implications will stun you.

Try to ensure that you have more foods such as chicken, fish and eggs that are higher in protein. To consume all the nutrients your body needs you will require large servings of fruit and vegetables. Fats are also recommended as long as you go for the good ones. Olive oil or oily fish, for example, are some of the best options. If you’re hungry in between meals, you can have nuts, as they provide you with both protein and good oils.

Keeping track of your stress is another important element. The body releases a hormone called cortisol which slows down the metabolism rate when you are stressed and typically as a result you can start your ‘comfort food eating’. Studies have also shown that you tend to store fat around your belly when stressed, making it more of a challenge to remove. Therefore, wherever possible, try to reduce your stress levels. Perhaps try a relaxation routine or alternatively, exercise is great to lower stress levels which ‘kills two birds with one stone’, so to speak.

Try eating earlier in the evening. Since you have less activity after it, the extra calories turn into fat and get accumulated. Alcohol contains very little if any, nutritional benefit and therefore most of those calories consumed will turn to fat. That’s the reason why there is such a thing as ‘beer belly’. If you want a drink, try something like vodka with a low calories mixer. This keeps the number of calories under control.

The second major element to losing weight is exercise. Modifying your diet will start the process to reduce weight, but if you want the process to speed up, exercise is a must. Of course, it is tough to get on track if you haven’t exercised at all for a while, but this is what really sets things moving. As you make a daily habit the effort involved in doing it will dramatically decrease.

What type of workouts will facilitate the fastest outcome? Cardio off course! As you can’t spot reduce fat from your body, you need to reduce fat all over. During a one hour run or swim, up to four hundred calories can be eliminated. Even if you start with 30 minute sessions, you should gradually evolve to hourly sessions spread over three to five days weekly. If this workout routine complements a low calorie nutritional program you’re bound to lose approximately two pounds a week.

That’s about it. The fat around the waist can be done away with if you follow a healthy food regime along with a rigorous workout. Results will be seen in as little as a few weeks if you stick with this regime. In addition to that, you’ll be rewarded with a better stamina. But for that belly fat reduction, there’s really nothing to lose!
