Energize Your Workouts with a Compact Treadmill

Treadmills have become very popular pieces of fitness equipment over the past decade. They are a great way to strengthen muscles and tendons while giving the cardiovascular system a nice workout as well. The problem is that treadmills as a whole are very bulky and take up quite a bit of space. The answer to this dilemma can be found in a compact treadmill.

Having a compact or portable treadmill is ideal for someone that lives in an apartment or condominium where space is limited. They are also great for homes because you can easily move them from one place to another and pack them up so that they are out of the way. Many of these models actually fold up which is a great to create more room.

A compact treadmill is typically lighter in weight than the standard treadmill. They usually have wheels attached to the base so that they can easily be moved by a single person. Some of them are even small enough that you can slide them under a bed. Because of the limited size, the consoles on the treadmills are minimalist and the length of the belt is usually 50 inches or under.

You should keep in mind that you will have to sacrifice some of the more intricate features of a standard treadmill such as incline settings and computer programs including heart monitors when you go with one of the smaller models. But the truth is, you don’t need all these bells and whistles to get a good workout.

An additional benefit of a portable or compact treadmill is that they are cheaper than their larger counterparts. Typically a compact treadmill will cost under $1000, while a standard treadmill of high-quality can cost upwards of $3000 and higher. They are usually pre-assembled as well which is a nice timesaver and a good deal if you are not handy with tools (or maybe just don’t want to be bothered).

There are some disadvantages as well that need to be pointed out to the prospective buyer. First off, the belts are pretty small, usually 10 or so inches shorter than a standard treadmill so there is a danger that you could actually fall off during a workout so it’s important that you keep that in mind and be careful with the limited size of the track.

As we briefly discussed before, you will not have the feature of adjusting the incline on a compact treadmill. And as previously stated, there are no intricate computer programs so they you can vary your workouts. So like anything in life, there are trade-offs to owning a compact treadmill. If you’re limited on space and the like to have the benefit of your very own fitness equipment when and where you choose, then I say it’s a pretty good deal and you should go for it.
