Schwinn Airdyne Exercise Bike Reviewed

The Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike remains an often imitated original as far as exercise equipment goes. It may not be for everyone but for those that do own one its unique design and sturdy construction has fostered loyalty. Other exercise bikes may offer more features but the Schwinn Airdyne is truly unique in the way it looks and operates.

This physical fitness machine is designed to exercise both the upper and lower body unlike some of its contemporaries which only gives the user a lower body workout. And of course, the true benefit is the cardiovascular exercise that is the hallmark of all stationary bikes. It is a bit pricey but also most definitely built to last featuring sturdy construction and durable manufacturing.

Unlike most stationary bikes the Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike has bars with hand grips that move back and forth similar to that of an elliptical trainer. This allows the user to get a nice workout with their arms, shoulders and back as well as their thighs and hamstrings by putting all the major muscle groups to work.

Cheap knockoffs use belts that are manually tightened to offer resistance but the Airdyne, as its name suggests, uses air resistance which means you are fully in control of how intense your workouts will be. The faster you pedal and move the arm bars, the more air resistance you will encounter and the tougher your workouts will be. If you’re looking for a workout is not quite as intense then simply pedal slower.

It is completely up to you if you want to use the handlebars during your workouts. They do not have to be used. Conversely, if you would like to just use the hand grips for a workout for your upper body then by all means you can do that. You can of course use them together or alternate at any time during your physical fitness routine. The manner in which you use the Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike during the course of your exercises is entirely up to you.

The large wheel that creates the air resistance to power your workouts is very similar to a large fan and will create a lot of air circulation when in use. It also means it can become rather noisy as the air is being pushed by the blades. The Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike costs around $500 and offers excellent low impact exercise that can be utilized by anyone regardless of age.
